A Composite Breeding System allows a producer to optimize heterosis without experiencing the huge swings in phenotype and performance levels seen from reverting back to crossing Pure Breeds. Deiter Bros. Angus will deliver very moderate birth weight and high IMF genetics to your breeding program. While we don’t necessarily recommend using our Angus bulls back on Angus cows, in a commercial production system, we do believe they play a significant role in a crossbreeding program. From our perspective the “Angus element”, in a system approach to beef production, should deliver calving ease, IMF, fleshing ability, udder quality, disposition and if you can do it without sacrificing muscle shape, all the better. The Angus bull can’t be the answer for all needs, just like the Simmental or Chianina or Charolais or Hereford or Holstein can’t be the answer to all needs.
